Coat Drive

December 4, HCDP Monthly Meeting: Our December Meeting/Christmas Party is our biggest event of the year. It’s the culmination of our coat drive and this year we’re adding a food drive. Joe Jaworski, candidate for Texas Attorney General has confirmed that he will attend and be a guest speaker and I’m awaiting confirmation from a very special person to also speak. We plan to have this meeting catered and there is no cost to you to attend (except coats and non-perishables, if you can).

Now is the time to purchase coats for the Coat Drive. Any size from extra small to adult X large is acceptable. Several stores have coats on sale right now. These coats go to the kids at Carver Elementary School in Greenville. Dr. Norman Hall started this project years ago and I think we’ve participated in it for 5 or 6 years now. Last year we donated over 225 coats, gloves and hats to the kids. I hope we greatly exceed that number this year.

HCDP members are known across the state for being very generous and for answering the call when there is a need. I’ve had numerous County Chairs ask me how to get their folks to give like you do. My answer is: HCDP members are some of the most loving, hard working folks in the state. We do great things and it’s all because of their generosity and love of their fellow Texans.
